Cook Time 15 minutes

Serves 2-4

Difficulty Easy

Ingredients

  • 5L sunflower oil
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour, sifted
  • ½ cup corn starch
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup sesame seeds
  • ½ cup cold water
  • ½ cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 4 Tbps gochujang sauce
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • 1 Tbsp Dibble Garlic Aioli
  • 1 Tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 1 Tbsp spring onions, thinly sliced

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, thoroughly combine the corn starch, flour, baking powder, salt and sesame seeds.
  2. Slowly whisk in the water to form a thin batter. If it’s too thick, add 1 Tbsp of water at a time until the batter falls off the whisk.
  3. In a medium mixing bowl, thoroughly whisk together the gochujang sauce, sesame oil, soy sauce, sugar, water and Dibble Garlic Aioli. Set aside.
  4. In a medium pot, heat the oil to about 180°C.
  5. Add the cauliflower to the batter and coat each piece thoroughly.
  6. Picking up each piece at a time, shake off any excess batter and carefully lower into the oil, making sure to not overcrowd the pot.
  7. Deep fry for 3 minutes then remove and let it rest for 1 minute.
  8. Deep fry again for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. While the cauliflower is hot, add to the sauce mixing bowl and thoroughly coat each piece.
  10. Transfer the Korean Fried Cauliflower to a serving bowl and top with spring onions and sesame seeds.
  11. Enjoy!
